If there is one thing that I absolutely hate, it is eating the same type of breakfast each and every day… Which makes me question – What can I do to switch things up every now and then? Now to tell you the truth, I do not like spending too much time on breakfast coz ain’t nobody got time for that honey! So here are some of my tried and tested quick breakfast ideas which will be ready in less than 5 minutes!
1. Avocado Toast
Avocados are a great way to add healthy fat in your diet. They are said to be good for the heart and are a great anti-inflammatory agent as well. No wonder they call it nature’s own butter! It tastes really good when you slather some of this creamy fruit on a piece of toast with a sprinkle of salt & pepper on it.
2. Peanut Butter Banana Roll Ups
When you don’t feel like spreading peanut butter on bread, wheat tortillas are your next best friend. Spread a scoop of that protein-packed peanut butter on a tortilla, place a banana on it and roll it up. You won’t get hungry until lunch time!
3. Breakfast Fruit Wraps
You have heard of fruit and yogurt so why not make delicious wraps out of it? I came across this recipe on Pinterest; decided to give it a go and absolutely loved it! You can do this with cream cheese, but I love using Greek Yogurt as the base on a wheat tortilla, then add any fruits of your choice along with chopped nuts. Sprinkle cinnamon for added flavor and roll it up- you have a delicious breakfast ready within 5 minutes. You gotta give this a try if you haven’t already.
4. Smoothies
Cutting up fruits the day before saves a lot of time when it comes to making smoothies. The easiest smoothie for me is banana-strawberry with some milk but here are some of my other favorite combinations-
a. Banana, peach and mango – Blend 1 cup of chopped fresh/ frozen peaches and mango, 1 cup plain yogurt, 1/2 cup ice, 1/2 banana, and a little honey for sweetness.
b. Triple-Berry -Blend 1 1/2 cups mixed strawberries, blackberries and raspberries with 1 cup milk, 1/2 cup ice, and honey for sweetness.
5. Overnight Oats
I feel overnight oats is by far the most convenient breakfasts of all time. Nothing like waking up and knowing that your breakfast is already ready, sitting in the fridge, waiting to be devoured by you. 😉 You can check out the way I love to make overnight oats here.
So tell me some of your favorite breakfast ideas. Do you have the same thing every day or like to switch it up once in a while? I would love to hear from all of you!
Until next time, happy blogging and keep on smiling!
XOXO

February 11, 2016I like breakfast to be made in 5 minutes or less too! This evening I actually put together some fruit and yogurt wraps after seeing them on a YT video, so we can have them in the morning. I also like to make pumpkin oatmeal muffins at the beginning of the week, and then we eat them throughout the week. Great list! I’m going to try the avocado on toast the next time I buy avocados.
Smiling Notes
February 11, 2016Wow Pumpkin oatmeal muffins sound amazing! I’m sure you will like the avocado toast too. Thanks a lot for stopping by 🙂

February 12, 2016I do the overnight oatmeal by taking the old fashioned oats, adding protein powder, flax seed, peanut butter, and topping with almond milk. I let it soak and the next morning, its like a pudding. Sometimes I add dried fruit instead of the peanut butter
Smiling Notes
February 12, 2016Ooh adding protein powder in oatmeal sounds like a great idea!! Thanks for sharing and stopping by ?

February 13, 2016Overnight oats are amazing! Specially when you make them in an almost empty peanut butter jar. In the morning, the peanut butter taste will be all over the oats and it’s delicious 🙂 You know, I live in Mexico and here we don’t usually associate tortillas with sweet things, but your wrap ideas look yummy. I will try!
Smiling Notes
February 13, 2016Yum… that is a great tip of using an almost empty jar of peanut butter for overnight oats! You know I was a bit apprehensive when I used the fruits in tortillas but it really tasted great 🙂 Thanks a lot for stopping by!

February 15, 2016I was in need for some new breakfast ideas! Thank you! They all look delicious. I have eaten wraps for breakfast/lunch once, with some left over mushrooms and mushroom sauce. It was good! My current favorite breakfast is banana pancakes: 1 banana, 2 eggs, cinnamon to taste (thats right, no flour!). Mix them and bake small pancakes (large ones will brake easily). Omnom!
Smiling Notes
February 15, 2016Ooh I love the sound of banana pancakes!! And cinnamon will definitely make it all the more yummy! Thanks for sharing? definitely gonna give it a try!!

February 17, 2016I love starting the day with a healthy breakfast, and enjoy switching it up every now and then. I’m going to try the tortilla ideas. I need something to bite, in the morning. I love smoothies, but need more texture, and protein to keep me going until lunch. This morning I had two slices of full grain bread, filled with one mashed avocado/two eggs/creme cheese, and alfa alfa sprouts.

March 20, 2018Ithink my granddaughter was trying to imitate the infamous Mickey D’s smoothies when she wanted some since she couldn’t tell me she’d learned about them on YouTube this time, all she would say – or maybe she didn’t even remember that, seems like maybe mom told me – but didn’t know to begin with so was going the milk and cocoa route that she was totally rejecting, kept saying fruit, did have bananas, but she kept talking berries, which I was out of right then, had dried cranberries but they wouldn’t smooth too well, finally dug out can of cranberry sauce and surprisingly got closer with it, then after she left found can of tropical fruit – I know, I know what we say about canned fruit, never seen a smoothie recipe calling for it, but, hey, if that’s what I have….
smilingnotes
March 21, 2018I’m glad your smoothie turned out great although you used canned fruits. Well like they say, the end result is important, right?! 😊
