Looking for a way to elevate your space but don’t want to spend a fortune? Follow these easy budget-friendly tips to instantly refresh your home.
After the holidays when all the decorations are put up, I love to refresh my home with simple yet elegant touches. But making your space feel new and refreshed can sometimes turn out to be an expensive affair. So how do you do this when you want to stick to a budget and not go overboard by buying expensive items?
Sometimes even simple changes can make a huge difference to your home. Here are a few of my favorite ways to instantly make any space feel refreshed and alive on a budget –
Liven up your space with flowers or a touch of greenery
I love having fresh flowers around my home, especially during the dull and gloomy winter days. But instead of splurging on expensive flower arrangements, just get your favorite flowers from your local grocery store at a fraction of the cost.
Indoor plants are also an excellent way to bring in the outdoors in. And in case you don’t have a green thumb like me, get low maintenance plants like succulents. They are easy to care for and won’t die easily even if you forget to water them.
An even better budget-friendly option is to get faux plants or flowers. They can be just as pretty, will last you forever and sometimes be even hard to tell that they aren’t real (& trust me, no one is going to judge you)
Tip: Keep an eye out for deals and offers on faux flowers at your local craft stores. Sometimes they are on sale for as much as 50-60% off!
Change the placement of your furniture
You might already know that switching out your throw pillows or adding a throw blanket on the couch can instantly uplift your room. But don’t just stop at that.
Our eyes often get used to the way things are placed in our home and things can start feeling a bit monotonous over a period of time.
A simple change in the way you have placed your furniture can instantly change the way your home looks and can give it a facelift without you having to spend a single dime!
Little things like moving around your reading chair, changing the location of your side table or your floor lamp can give your home a new look.
Freshen your rooms with Fragrance
Your house comes with a scent signature and it’s almost always the first thing that people notice when they walk in your home. During the colder days, we hardly open up our windows to get some fresh air.
When it comes to elevating my space, especially if I am going to have company over, I have always relied on Glade® fragrances to make my home smell amazing. So when I recently came across the Glade® Atmosphere Collection™ Fine Fragrance Mist at Walmart, I knew I had to give them a try.
And I must say, I was in for a pleasant surprise. They are infused with essential oils and masterfully crafted fragrances and just a few sprays will help you to create a relaxing and oasis-like atmosphere.
They come in four varieties and each one of them has a unique fragrance. Since I love switching up the mood of my home every now and then, I couldn’t really decide which one to buy and ended up buying three of them.
Here’s what you can expect from each of the fragrances –
- The No.1 Enraptured™ scent has elegant notes of jasmine and rose and hints of Pink Lady Apple, Honeysuckle, honey and Cedarwood.
- The No.2 Bright™ scent has a touch of ripe raspberries and orchard fruit notes along with jasmine, rose and sweet pea.
- The No.3 Free™ scent has notes of white pineapple, citrus and beachside florals swirl through layers of coconut, beach woods and vanilla bean scents.
- The No.4 Tempted™ scent has hints of patchouli, amber, and warm, exotic spices.
Out of the ones I tried, my favorite has to be No.3 Free™ scent. The citrusy and fruity notes almost makes me feel that I’m transported to a magical tropical paradise!
The premium fragrance notes combined with essential oils is perfect for someone who is looking for a high-end experience but at a fraction of the cost. Just spray upwards and sweep side to side for a continuous mist. Your home will instantly feel refreshed!
Create fun and easy DIY art
DIY wall art has to be one of the most inexpensive ways you can change the look of your home. You can take a little inspiration from the internet to create your unique piece of art.
If you are not the creative types, you can consider creating a personalized gallery wall. To do this on a budget, use inexpensive picture frames and free printables and your walls will feel alive and new.
Here are some examples that I have done by taking a little inspiration from the internet.
Purge and Rethink
Now is the perfect time to start with your Spring cleaning routine. Dedicate a weekend for this and go through all your stuff.
Clear out anything that is old, expired or that you no longer need. I’m talking about clothes that don’t fit anymore, shoes that you no longer use, junk mail, expired makeup, medicines, and pantry items.
Donate what you can and get rid of the remaining items. In this process, you can also consider re-organizing your drawers and closets as well as utilize any unused space that you may have in your home.
So these were some of the ways you can refresh your home on a budget and create a happy space for you and your family.
What are some of the ways that you like to refresh your home on a budget? I would love to know!
