Don’t you just love it when you happen to come across a place by chance that serves lovely desserts? My husband came across this dessert place called ‘Lady M Confections’ near Bryant Park, New york City recently when he was heading home. I am always up for trying new things and he wanted to surprise me by getting a sweet treat for me. So he went inside on a whim and was quite intrigued by the delectable varieties of ‘Mille Crêpes Cakes‘ that they serve.
When he asked me to open the box, I thought it was Cheesecake. But on closer inspection – I realised that it was something totally different. That is when the hubby said that they are Crêpes Cake. Honestly, I haven’t had anything like this before (Please excuse my ignorance. I feel I have been living under a rock.)
Okay, so first off, who doesn’t love crepes? And when it’s a cake made out of crepes, it is sure to make you drool! So what exactly is a Mille Crêpes Cake? Mille means ‘thousand’ in French… but of course, you won’t find a thousand crepes in one slice. It is a decadent French cake consisting of 20-25 soft, thin crêpes stacked on top of each other, with a light brush of pastry cream between each crêpe.
We tried two of their Crêpes Cake – the Signature and the Green Tea Mille – both of them were not only delightfully delicious but also visually stunning! Light and airy and not overly sweet at all (something that I truly enjoy in desserts)
When you take a closer look at them, you can see the beautiful layers of crepes –
I wanted to save some so I can have them after dinner but I obviously failed. I gave into that guilty pleasure and devoured them. You will too if you try them out.
The Green Tea Cake was a little less sweet as compared to the Signature one and the flavor wasn’t too overpowering at all.
Here are a few more photos from that place that the hubby clicked – (being a food blogger’s husband, I guess he knew that I would want some pics for my blog 😀 )
I will be honest though – prices are a bit steep (Each slice was priced around $8)
I surely wish to give the other varieties a try. You’ll probably see me there someday soon checking out some of their other cakes.? If desserts fancy you, I urge you to give them a try at least once when you get a chance. Bon Appetit!

May 30, 2016Just looking at the pictures made me hungry and wish I could have a slice. It looks so divine and delicious. I can’t blame you for not being able to save some for dinner. I probably would have done the same thing; especially if it’s that delicious. 😛 Thanks to your hubby for taking pictures. He did a great job. I prefer the signature crepe cake though, especially you mentioned that it’s not that sweet. 🙂 I’m inspired to make one for my family to try. Thanks for sharing SN. 🙂

May 31, 2016Thanks a lot Anna for your sweet words! You should definitely try making them and if possible share it on your blog? As for me, I am not that good at baking so I don’t know whether I will be able to do a good job haha ?
