P.F. Chang’s China Bistro doesn’t need any special introduction. This restaurant chain is known to serve Asian cuisine in a casual dining atmosphere.
We had recently visited this restaurant on a weekend and despite this place being pretty close to where I stay, this was my first time here.
Now, I’ll tell you something about me. I fell in love with Chicken Satay on our trip to Malaysia and had practically lived on it during our stay there (I was so obsessed that I even ate it before we boarded the flight on our way back home!) So when I saw it on their menu, I knew I had to get it. The chicken was tender and juicy and the peanut sauce was incredible. Although, I honestly wish the quantity of the chicken was a little more.
To accompany Chicken Satay, we also placed an order of Chicken Dumplings – and I must say they were one of the best dumplings I have had in recent times. Just looking at this pic makes me drool –
I have heard their ‘Dynamite Shrimp’ is pretty similar to the ‘Bang Bang shrimp’ that you get in Bonefish Grill. But you know, you gotta keep some room for the entree! So no more appetizers for me. I got their Dali Chicken (served with potatoes and rice on the side). They call it their ‘spiciest chicken dish’ but it was pretty manageable for me. Maybe because after having tasted the hot sauce at The Halal Guys, nothing can really level up to that kind of heat for me 😀
Price wise, I found it pretty similar to the way The Cheesecake Factory prices its menu (I’m probably comparing the two of them coz we had been there just a while ago) but quantity wise, cheesecake factory wins. (They have humongous portions – weight-watchers please beware 😀 )
Despite being a busy evening, the service was pretty prompt. The server checked on us a couple of times, which is highly appreciated.
To sum it up, P.F. Chang’s delivers a great atmosphere to spend some quality time with friends/ family offering good food and good service. If you sign up for their free membership, you get points that can be converted later (something to be considered for people who happen to frequently visit this place) If you are someone who enjoys the Asian cuisine, this is definitely worth a try.
Have y’all tried P.F. Chang’s?? What are your favorite dishes there?

May 13, 2016Lovely to note that you had a chance to sample authentic Malaysian satay, most people visiting here always love the satay and the murtabak, have you tried that too. Hope you get to return to enjoy more Malaysian food. Lovely post!
Smiling Notes
May 13, 2016Yes I am really happy to get to taste authentic Satay while in Malaysia. Honestly, I haven’t been able to find the same quality Satay here in the US. I didn’t try the murtabak. But I just googled it to find out what it was and it looks so damn delicious. I think it looks a bit similar to the Indian Parathas that we make (but I may be wrong) Thanks for your sweet comment.. I got to know a new dish from you today! Hope I get to visit Malaysia soon! XoXo
Singledust
May 13, 2016You know your rotis well! The skin or outer layer of the murtabak is similar to the Parathas and its fiiled with meat or veg pre cooked with spices and herbs. Something like a burrito filling but the filling is cooked longer till its softer in texture but with no rice added. Then it’s assembled and slow cooked on both sides (it’s great to stand and watch them cook this as the aroma gets you to order an extra one!) on a large hot flat pan like the paratha. Served with either a curry or pickled red onions its really tasty and filling. You have a lovely blog on food, I like to eat but can’t write about it! HaHa! Malaysian satay is all about the peanut sauce, I have tried it outside of Malaysia and it’s always the sauce that isn’t really right. When we were kids the satay vendor rode around the neighbourhood with his grill attached to the back of his bicycle or motorcycle and grilled the sticks while we kids stood around salivating. The charcoal grill gives it the extra flavour. These days its still charcoal grilled but no more traveling satay guy! Thank you for enjoying and mentioning the humble foods of Malaysia.

May 13, 2016Oh my God!! You just made me drool with the description ?I could actually picture it in front of my eyes and I so wish I could have it right now.
And believe me if you start writing about food, you will make everyone drool with those vivid descriptions. Oh and your memories of the satay being grilled by the vendor sounds like so much fun! Childhood memories are the best ?

May 13, 2016I am almost forgot them but you jogged my memory, thanks for sharing! I sometimes take for granted the variety of food we have to enjoy here. Do you live in an area that has lots of different food?
Smiling Notes
May 13, 2016Yes I live close to New York city. So I am always surrounded by tons of food options (I have to actually try and avoid food temptations in order to not gain weight lol)
Singledust
May 13, 2016New York is pretty cosmopolitan so i think you are really fortunate to be able to go and try out different foods! Weight gain haha i struggle with that too especially here in Malaysia where food is available 24-7! Happy to connect with someone that enjoys food as much as I do. Love your talent in bringing the food to life!

May 13, 2016Thanks a lot once again! You are really kind 🙂

May 16, 2016We have a P.F. Changs just down the street from us. We like it a lot, although haven’t been there too many times. I really appreciated your review of what you ate as so many times I struggle with what to order as I’m not that familiar with the dishes. If we go there again, I’m going to get what you got as it all looks delicious!
Smiling Notes
May 16, 2016Thanks a lot Shari and so glad you liked my post. Surprisingly, I too went there for the first time even though it is quite close to my place 🙂

May 16, 2016Oh the dumping!! My son lived in China for 10 years and we ate a whole lot of dumplings over there– so I have a soft spot for those things. And these look delicious Shamira!

May 17, 2016I love Changs, but the best Asian food I’ve eaten here in the US was Marimoto Asia at Disney World. Fantastic Dim Sum!
Smiling Notes
May 17, 2016Ooh wish I could go there right now. Definitely adding it on my list 😉 And I agree, I wont really say that PF Chang’s has the Best asian food out there. It’s definitely good but not the best 😀
