Ahh, the aroma of freshly made waffles wafting in the air…It can make anyone drool instantly. This is exactly what happens to me whenever I pass by a ‘Wafels & Dinges’ cart.
I read this somewhere online – “How will you describe a waffle? A pancake which got hit by a tennis racket.” This made me chuckle because it sounds just about right.
So what makes a yummilicious waffle? Their fluffiness..? The fact that they can be topped with anything delicious? Or a combination of both?
‘Wafels & Dinges’ has never failed to disappoint me. You will see their carts/ trucks at many places throughout New York city including Tribeca, Financial District, Central Park and even in Bryant Park.
Sometimes there is a huge line like bees getting attracted to flowers; but if you are lucky, you will find only a few people ahead of you.
Interestingly they have been ranked as one of the best food trucks in the United States.
Like most other places, they have a variety of toppings or ‘dinges’ as they call it. Whipped cream, ice cream, fresh fruits, Belgian chocolate fudge…the possibilities are numerous.
I have tried their waffles with Nutella & powdered sugar as well as with their own ‘Belgian Spekuloos spread’ and strawberries.
The ‘Spekuloos Spread’ also known as cookie spread is to die for! They say it’s made from Belgian gingerbread cookies and has hints of nutmeg and cinnamon in it. It’s even sold in jars by them and of course, I had to get it to spread some of this heavenly goodness on home-made pancakes!! I believe that even Trader Joe’s sells a similar cookie spread but haven’t tried it out yet.
So do you love waffles? If yes, let me know your favorite place to have it. I would love to try out a new place… hey anything for waffles right? 😉
Have a good day and keep on smiling!!
