About Piattino

Nestled in Summit, New Jersey (its original location being in Mendham) Piattino brings an authentic, new age Italian dining experience directly to its customers. Sourcing artisan ingredients from around the world and their own backyard, Piattino’s scratch-made, chef-driven menu includes a variety of mouthwatering dishes.

They are best known for their delicious, hand-stretched Neapolitan style pizzas and sandizza’s (Piattino’s own version of a Panini) using premium ingredients. Apart from the regular menu, they also have a specialty menu focusing on regional delicacies that varies every season.

Hospitality & Decor

The first thing I noticed when I stepped in the restaurant was its warm and inviting interiors with a beautiful bar as the focal point. They even have outdoor seating which you can enjoy in the warmer weather.

The staff is really friendly and knowledgable and the service is pretty quick. Our server, in particular, gave us a lot of recommendations as well as shared his personal favorites from the menu. This is something that I have always appreciated as it shows that they know the menu as well as love the food served at the restaurant.

Here’s a glimpse of the delicious food served at Piattino –

Wine: – Saladini Pilastri ($11) & Salviano Pinot Nero Rose ($11)

While the Rose had gentle aromas of spring berries and earthy flavors, the hubs tried their Saladini Pilatsri which was their featured red wine in the regional specialties.

Crispy Carrot Risotto Balls – Arborio Rice, Carrot basil Puree, Fresh Ricotta, Truffle Oil ($11)

Crispy on the outside & soft on the inside – these carrot risotto balls were paired with fresh ricotta and basil puree. This incredible combination tasted like a match made in heaven.

I absolutely loved dipping the risotto balls in the basil puree as well as the fresh ricotta. A must-try dish for sure.

Stone Fired Artisan Pizza: Piattino Classic Pizza – Italian sausage, pepperoni, meatballs, roasted red peppers, onions, and fresh mozzarella ($15.5)

I was looking forward to trying this out since all their pizzas are hand stretched and are baked at 800 degrees in their imported Italian stone-fired oven.

And let me tell you – I was definitely not disappointed.

Piattino classic pizza

You know how you love a dish so much that you feel like gobbling it all up? That is exactly what happened to me when I took a bite of their Classic Pizza. It was so incredibly fresh that I honestly had the urge to finish the entire pizza (well, of course, I didn’t as I wanted to keep some room for the rest of the dishes)

My husband and I both loved it so much that the following week, we ended up ordering this exact Pizza again (Yes, it is that good!)

Bianco Bolognese Ravioli: Bolognese filled Ravioli, Pecorino Romano Cheese sauce parmesan cheese and Basil ($17)

I have absolutely no words to describe this amazing masterpiece! The ravioli was literally melting in my mouth and tasted incredibly fresh.

Traditionally ravioli is made by stuffing the cheese inside the pasta with meat sauce on the outside.

But the restaurant has given their own twist by stuffing the meat on the inside and cheese on the outside. It was definitely a unique and delicious twist and you could taste the freshness in every bite. Highly recommend this dish.

Ragu Delle Marche: Ground lamb ragu, fresh Tagliatelle pasta, Pecorino Romano ($20)

This was in their specialty regional menu and was one of the recommended dishes by our server. Incredibly flavorful and quite delightful.

Dessert: Tiramisu

We were going to skip dessert since we were really full after such an amazing meal. But when I saw Tiramisu on the menu (which happens to be my all-time favorite dessert), not ordering it would practically be like punishing myself.

We ordered just one slice of Tiramisu and I’m actually glad since it was a pretty huge slice & delicious, to say the least.

Final Verdict?

With its charming ambiance and perfectly crafted dishes paired with an excellent service, Piattino is the perfect way to enjoy a scrumptious meal and spend an awesome time with your friends and family. A must-try place for sure.

Definitely, add it to your list if you haven’t already paid a visit to this gorgeous Italian bistro. As for me, it has already become our new favorite restaurant.

*Special thanks to Chef Mike for such a fabulous meal.
