5 Essentials that are a Must-Have for every Mom - Check out the top five baby essentials that will make every new parent's life much easier.

Babies make our world so much happy and joyful. Our little baby was born just a couple weeks ago and he has certainly made our lives complete. We are looking forward to this beautiful journey with our little babe and have been on our toes ever since he was born.

However, being a new mom has its own set of challenges. Apart from getting the main things like a crib or a bassinet, car seat, baby clothes, diapers etc. there are so many things to choose from that as a new parent, it can get so overwhelming as well as confusing.

Here are my top 5 essentials (apart from the basic ones mentioned above) that will make every new parent’s life much easier –

1. Side snap or zip up onesies

First-time parents (like us) can go on crazy shopping sprees and buy all sorts of cute outfits for their babies. But the most comfortable outfits that are easy to put on and get out of (especially during late night outfit changes) are the side snap or zip up shirts and onesies.

2. Changing pad

Even if you choose not to get a changing table (which is something that most people don’t use all the time anyway), 3 – 4 washable changing pads are a must-have for every new mom. They come in handy wherever you may decide to change your baby including when you are traveling.

3. Diaper rash cream

Babies cry a lot – when they are hungry, when their diaper needs to be changed, when they want to be held etc. But honestly, nothing prepared me for those hurtful cries when our newborn got those awful diaper rashes!

For those awful times, we’ve been using Boudreaux’s Original Butt Paste® which is a Pediatrician recommended brand. It starts relieving diaper rash discomfort on contact.

There are a couple of reasons why we love it though.

  • First of all, it is free of dyes, parabens, preservatives phthalates, and talc.

  • Secondly, it is really affordable and the whole kit retails just for $14.99

  • However, the real game changer is The Butt Brush™ that comes in the Boudreaux’s Butt Paste® Rash Kicking Kit™ .

Rash creams can be extremely difficult to get off your hands even after washing due to their thick consistency. And when you are in the middle of cleaning a newborn, this butt brush has been extremely useful.

This mess-free silicone applicator helps parents to gently apply a thick and smooth coat of Butt Paste® on baby’s booty to form a protective barrier from wetness. And it’s 100% BPA free.

The Butt Brush™ even has a suction cup for quick storage between uses.

Tip: This Rash Kit is also a unique and practical baby shower gift idea.

4. Zip up or Velcro Swaddles

While the traditional swaddling will always remain the best, for us, the velcro or zip up swaddle blankets have also been of great use. They are easy to put on even on a fussy baby and our baby is not able to easy wiggle his way out from them, unlike regular swaddle blankets.

5. Baby monitor

Depending on your personal preference as well as budget, an audio or video monitor can give you peace of mind when your baby is sleeping and when you are taking care of other things or are resting. Personally, we chose a video monitor as it helps me to see the baby’s movement so that I know when he’s awake and when he needs my attention.

What are your absolute favorite baby essentials? We would love to know!
