Lately, I have been totally obsessed with Smoothie Bowls. Rather than regular smoothies, I have been enjoying smoothie bowls which are basically a thicker, more creamier version of smoothies that you can eat with a spoon. It just feels as if I’m eating a dessert when in reality it’s just a healthier version of deliciousness.

This Chocolate Oat Almond Butter Smoothie Bowl tastes basically like dessert for breakfast. With just a few ingredients like frozen bananas, cocoa powder and MaraNatha Almond Butter from Walmart you can whip up this healthy and delicious smoothie bowl under minutes.

When it comes to smoothies or juices, I prefer a more natural taste instead of overly sweet smoothies. This recipe is just a tad sweet but you can always adjust the sweetness by adding honey or any other sweetener of your choice.

The Almond Butter helps to give this smoothie bowl a rich and creamy texture while adding a wholesome flavor to it. Like I mentioned, I have used MaraNatha Almond Butter in this recipe which takes it to the next level. True story – ever since I tried it out, I have been in love with it!

It’s the perfect way to enjoy the natural goodness of almonds. Made with the finest quality California almonds, its rich creamy and velvety smoothness almost melts in the mouth. Apart from smoothies, it also tastes great as a snack with fruits like apples, pears, etc. I got it from the nut butter aisle at Walmart.

Frozen bananas work best for this recipe but if you are in a rush, you can use regular bananas as well. The texture will change just a bit.

Tip: Rather than throwing an entire banana in the freezer, cut it into 3-4 pieces, place it in a ziplock bag and then freeze them. Makes things much easier.

Now all you have to do is blend the frozen bananas, almond butter, cocoa powder, chia seeds, and milk and your delicious smoothie bowl will be ready under minutes for you to devour!

Pour it into a bowl and top it off with your favorite toppings like granola, almonds or chia seeds. Now all that’s left for you to do is to go ahead and enjoy your breakfast bowl!

Chocolate Oat Almond Butter Smoothie Bowl

Ingredients

  • Almond butter - 3 tbsp (I used MaraNatha Almond Butter)
  • Unsweetned cocoa powder - 3-4 tbsp
  • Frozen bananas - 2
  • Oats - 1/3 cup
  • Chia seeds - 1 tsp
  • Milk / Almond Milk - 1/3 cup
  • Honey - 1 tsp (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Add frozen bananas, almond butter, unsweetened cocoa powder, oats, chia seeds and milk in a blender and blend it till everything is well combined and the mixture turns smooth and creamy.For sweetness, you can add honey if desired.
  2. Pour everything in a bowl and enjoy!

Notes

You can adjust the sweetness by adding more honey or any other sweetener of your choice.
