Now that Spring is finally here, I’m sure many of you must already be planning to go on your next travel adventure. Here are a few road trip essentials that will make your traveling much easier.
We are huge travel buffs and my family and I love going on road trips. As soon as the warmer weather sets in, I start dreaming about our next travel adventure. I love the thought of exploring new places, going on treks, and expecting the unexpected. Even if it’s just for a weekend away, I am always looking forward to it.
In fact, we have already started planning our next road trip during the Spring and Summer. While impromptu plans sometimes turn out to be the best, when it comes to road trips, being prepared is always helpful.
Here are some of the essentials to keep in mind when going on your next fun road trip with family or friends.
Clean and Service your car
Before you head to your next road trip, The first and foremost thing that you need to do is to get your car cleaned properly Not just from the exterior but also from the inside. Get rid of the trash or junk things lying around in the car dashboard as well as the trunk. Secondly, if your car servicing is due, get it done so that there are no problems while you are on the road
Healthy Snacks and Water
Energy bars, trail mix, popcorn are just a few of the things that are easy to carry and eat on the go. Make sure to carry enough water with you because you don’t want to overpay for it at gas stations.
Cooler bags
Cold beverages are always a relief, especially during the warmer weather. A portable cooler bag is a great way to keep your beverages cool. If you are traveling with a baby or a toddler, you can safely keep milk/ yogurt pouches in them without the risk of it going bad.
Kleenex Wet Wipes
Most of the time, in order to save time, we always grab a quick lunch when we take a pit stop and end up eating it in the car. But let’s face it, eating in cars can sometimes get really messy. I mean just look how messy my hand has become just by eating a sandwich.
Get rid of your messy and sticky hands and face by keeping Kleenex Wet Wipes with you all the times. With the cleansing power of water anytime, anywhere, they are perfect to use on your face and hands at home and on the go.
They have no Harsh chemicals and are free from dyes, alcohol, parabens, sulfates, and phthalates, which is an added bonus.
I always make sure to keep a couple of these in my car so that we can clean our hands and faces in a gentle manner.
So if you are a ‘doer’ & love to go on adventures or are someone who is always on the go, keep a pack of Kleenex Wet Wipes with you. They are really convenient to carry and you can even throw them in your purse.
The best part about them is that they are just $1.49! You can grab them from your local Target from the facial tissues section.
Create your favorite Music Playlists beforehand
There have been times when we have been on the road for more than 7+ hours and the same songs keep playing on and on. By the end of the trip, we are so over it, that we wish we would have added more songs to our playlist. To avoid that, make sure you create multiple playlists with a ton of songs so that you don’t end up listening to the same songs over and over.
First Aid Kit
A mini first aid kit should always be in your car even if you aren’t going on a road trip It is always better to be prepared by keeping a few band-aids, painkillers, rash creams, tweezers, etc in it.
Helpful Apps on your phone
Download helpful apps beforehand as you may not get network on the road every single time. If required, download maps so that you can access them even when there is no access to the internet.
Car Emergency Kit
This includes things like a basic toolbox in case you need to fix your car, flashlight, etc.
Blanket/ Scarves
Even if it may not be cold, a blanket or a scarf is a good idea to keep with you in the car during road trips. It’s great when you want to block out the sun or want to take a nap in the car.
Chargers
Because no one wants to have a dead phone while traveling.
Bug Spray and Sunblock lotions
A true life savior, especially if you’re planning to go camping or hiking.
Other essentials
Your makeup bag, toiletries, sunglasses and of course, extra clothes.
Plastic bags/ garbage bags
Keep your trash contained by putting everything in a plastic or garbage bag.
Bonus Tip: Keep all the essentials like snacks, Kleenex Wet Wipes, chargers within arm’s reach so it’s easy for you to grab whenever someone needs anything.

April 3, 2018Medication. Must have your medicine on hand. I no longer drive but I did enjoy my last AMTRAK trip to Washington, DC several years ago. Packing sandwiches and wet ones are a good idea. Yes there is a dining car on AMTRAK but the food can be expensive. Sandwiches or small filling meals inside containers are excellent because with many medications you must eat prior to taking the medicine.
