Fitness for me does not necessarily mean spending hours in the gym or dieting till I feel like crying. To me, it means making sure to live an active lifestyle and making healthy and mindful choices.

But when most of us are surrounded by winter, especially if it’s a brutally cold winter, it’s more tempting to stay indoors and tougher to stick to our fitness regime and goals.

Here are a few tips to help you to stay motivated and work towards your fitness goals for the coming year –

1. Get Cute Workout Gear

I don’t know about you, but whenever I wear cute workout clothes, I feel extra peppy and happy and look forward to my workout.

So whether you are simply going to lift weights or do a few push-ups at your home, or are planning to hit the gym, make it a point to wear something comfortable and cute that will make you feel good from the inside as well outside!

2. Journal it out

In order to keep track of your fitness, writing down your daily exercise or workout routines will help you stay focused and motivated towards attaining your goals. If you’re someone who keeps physical planners, write down your daily or weekly fitness goals.

If planners are not your thing, and you rely on your laptop or phone for your daily or weekly tasks, create a separate section where you can track your fitness schedule.

What I’m trying to say is that keeping a regular track of your fitness routine is really important.

3. Take your Caffeine in your Pocket

It’s no secret that caffeine helps you to stay alert and awake. Having a cup of coffee or tea definitely helps, especially when you are feeling sleepy or a little lethargic.

So what if I tell you that you can get a quick boost of caffeine with just a piece of gum?

4. Get an Accountability Partner

If it’s hard for you to keep up with your fitness goals, get an accountability partner and create goals together.

An accountability partner could be anyone – your sibling, your best friend, your spouse, your colleague, or even your mom!

You could even find one in fitness dedicated Facebook or Instagram groups! As long as you help and encourage each other, it will help you stay motivated to work towards living an active lifestyle.

5. And Finally, Surround yourself with Positive Thoughts and Positive People

If you are constantly around people who complain about everything, you may start feeling demotivated as well.

It can be tough to stay away from such people, especially if they are your close friends or family – but honestly, you don’t need that kind of negativity around you.

Similarly, you can also set positive quotes and thoughts as your screen wallpaper. That way, every time you look at it, you can feel good and get a positive vibe from it.

    Hi Shamira– OK, I just read your title and thought– This is what I’m needing about now! I do have a couple walking friends and a yoga buddy to keep me accountable, but we’ve been off a couple weeks for Christmas– but my favorite idea of yours was to keep a journal of exercise!!     Being a postman is enough motivation for me to stay fit. It’s kind of cheating. I do 20,000+ steps just by going to work 😂
