So it was the hubby’s birthday on Sunday and we wanted to go somewhere to have some nice lunch. Our original choice was Ruth’s Chris Steak House but turns out on Sundays they open at 2 pm.
Note to self: always, always check the timings of restaurants before you head out. That way, you won’t make a fool of yourself. Thankfully, Bonefish Grill was pretty close by from where we were and having never been there before, we decided to give it a try.
Luckily there was no waiting time and we were quickly seated. The ambiance was warm and welcoming and to start off, we ordered their Pomegranate Martini and Mimosa. Both the cocktails were delightful and not overly sweet.
Apparently, their Bang Bang Shrimp in the appetizers (btw, that name totally makes me chuckle) is so famous that the server immediately asked us whether we would like to start off with them. The shrimp tossed in a creamy, buttery sauce was utterly tender, crispy and delish! I liked their presentation – looked like a mountain of shrimp ready to be devoured.
Now, does it ever happen to you that you fall in love with something soooo much that you decide to get a second round of that exact same thing? Yeah, that happened to us. And so we decided to attack the scrumptious shrimp once again!
As we finished the second round of our appetizer, we knew we couldn’t handle two entrées. So we got their 6 oz. sirloin served with garlic mashed potatoes and coleslaw. The potatoes were perfectly creamy but to be completely honest, I was a tad bit disappointed with the steak. We had asked for medium-rare sirloin but it was a little overcooked. Bummer! It was pretty delicious, but for me, the beef becomes a bit too chewy when it is overcooked.
Or maybe I’m just spoiled after eating the top-notch steak we had at Gordon’s 😉
We skipped the dessert as there was a perfectly delicious cheesecake chilling in my fridge.
For me, this was a bitter-sweet experience – while the shrimp (which we devoured to its very last bit) truly lived up to the hype, the steak was just okay. Next time, I would love to go there just to get a hold of some of that delicious Bang Bang Shrimp!
XOXO

February 23, 2016I ate bang bang shrimp at the Bone Fish in Belleair Bluffs, Florida and loved it, though I asked for the sauce on the side. I also had with that an order of edeme, which was delicious and with a glass of white wine was just enough.
Smiling Notes
February 23, 2016Wow getting the sauce on the side was a smart move Carol! Going to keep that in mind the next time I go there ? thanks a lot for reading my post!

Celebrating Sunshine
February 24, 2016Oh, all of them! The mussels are fantastic, the fillet mignon, the sea bass is my hubby’s favorite (flaky and juicy), and they have the best mojito in the world. But we always have the bang-bang shrimp when we go there!

March 2, 2016We, also, like Bonefish, and their Bang Bang Shrimp is to die for! It’s funny you posted this about the steak, because we had the same experience once at Bonefish. (and we live in GA) Maybe that’s just the way they are trained to cook it…? We’ve just decided to get seafood when we go there, and their swordfish is delicious! If you go for lunch, it is on their dinner menu; however, they’ve served it for us twice, even though, we went for lunch. 😉 Mmmm, makes me want to go get some Bang Bang Shrimp today for lunch! 🙂
Smiling Notes
March 2, 2016Wow.. it is indeed funny how both of us had the same experience with their steak (we live in NJ)
And I think you are right.. I’m gonna stick to the seafood options too the next time we go there 🙂 Thanks for the swordfish recommendation.. definitely on my list now!
