As women, we are often bogged down by multiple responsibilities and sometimes focusing on your career can take a backseat.

There are so many challenges that we face on a daily basis and the dilemma of whether to say yes to an exciting proposal or that dream job that we have always wanted can be a constant struggle.

Today I would like to talk about something that is really personal to me, which I haven’t shared with many people. As I was sitting down for lunch the other day, I was reflecting on my blogging journey and how my decisions helped me to grow.

When I started blogging, I was looking for a way to let out my creativity. I used to follow a lot of food, travel as well as fashion bloggers and absolutely loved seeing what they had to share.

I also knew that social media marketing is a pretty lucrative career for people who are really successful in it. But honestly, I never even considered making money from it because I did not have faith or confidence in me.

You see, I have always been that girl who has been shy and who was always afraid to speak up. Out of the many doubts that I had, these were a few things that always crossed my mind – Will I be able to do it? What if I fail? What if it ends up going nowhere?

But after speaking to my husband I decided to go ahead and start a blog. After all, the only worst thing than failing is not giving things a try. When I first began this online venture, I was skeptical about my approach. But I knew I wanted to inspire people through my food & travel posts and maybe brighten up their days.

Work space

It is also not an easy task and it is very easy to get demotivated when you don’t get the desired results. I have seen so many talented bloggers who just stopped blogging – maybe because they got better opportunities elsewhere, got busy or maybe they were just disappointed with their results.

So what did I do that made me more Confident?

My ‘Moment of Yes’ was when I got that first email from a PR company saying that I was invited to a food event in New York City and to help them promote it through my blog and social media. Although it wasn’t a paid gig at that time, I was nonetheless happy that my work is getting noticed.

But I was a little hesitant to even reply to that email. What if I don’t deliver the expected results? Plus it was definitely something that was out of my comfort zone.

After a lot of thought, I decided to say yes and give it my best shot! That for me was my ‘Moment of Yes’ and after that, I have never looked back.

It’s like I got a boost in my confidence and I got more serious about blogging. As my blog grew, I decided to take up courses – some paid while some free and tried to up my game. I believe that dedication and hard work is what it takes to carve your own path.

The Power of Saying ‘YES’

As women, we need to stop saying no and say yes to life! Sure, it may not always be possible to say yes to everything. But if it’s something that you really desire, just go for it!

Similarly, I would like to tell you not to hold yourself back. Maybe you won’t get the results that you are expecting right away, maybe you won’t get the support that you deserve. But don’t let that affect your confidence.

Thinking of going out with your girlfriends for dinner? Say Yes! Planning to send that email to a potential client? Say Yes! Starting a new venture that has always scared you? Yes! Want to follow your passion? Yes! Want to learn a hobby that you’ve always wanted to? Yes!

If something is constantly on your mind and you can’t decide, just go for it! Trust me, you’ll be happy that you did it.

Glad you took the plunge and decided to start the blog.. I love reading your posts. Sometimes you say things that I want to say so it’s nice to know there are people like me out there. My ‘Yes’ moment was when I decided to move to Mumbai alone. I was stepping out of the comforts of home and I was skeptical. But it was the best decision I made because I got to learn to be independent and responsible for my own actions. Living alone teaches you so many things and I am glad I decided to do so!

Thank you so much for your words of appreciation, Prerna. I must say you are really brave to move to a city where you were completely alone. I have never done that and I can never even imagine the kind of challenges that come along with it. But it’s so great to know that it helped you be more confident & independent! XoXo

I am happy you followed your yes wish. I also try to follow my own, I started my blogging because I wanted to write and share thoughts, I always had a dream to film and I have my youtube channel. Recently I opened my world of still image and my photos are available at shutterstock and that’s just the beginning. I did write a book, which is going to be self-published soon, and this is also just a start. I love creating and I dream of quiting and devote myself fully to my hobbies,. I feel inspired by you, dear Shamira, and actually find you a fascinating person whom I would love to meet one day. Moreover, your food recipes and your attitude towards healthy food is perfect. Not to mention, your amazing and light writing style, it makes me read and read…you definitely have to write some cook book or something…I know it is scaring, but you are going to be extremely popular…and I can be brave enough to offer you a couple of unique Ukrainian recipes…how about creating a book of international American/Ukrainian recipes, I bet it can be bestseller…I am again inspired!!
