A Quick Lunch at Bub and Pop’s

Bub and Pop’s is a cute hidden gem in Washington D.C. that’s been featured on the show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.

Bub & Pop's Washington D.C.

A while back I said that I was thinking of starting a series where I’d try to visit restaurants that have been covered on TV Shows like Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Well, one such place that I recently came across was Bub and Pop’s.

On our recent work trip to Washington D.C., I expressed my desire to visit this restaurant to my husband. Turns out, he was thinking about going there as well! Well, whaddya know? Another restaurant outing means another review 🙂

Bub and Pop’s is run by a mother-son duo and this restaurant is like those places that you may often walk by without realizing the charm it has to offer.

This is going to be a super short review since we just had one sandwich over there. Nonetheless, I thought of sharing my thoughts as this restaurant has been featured on Food Network.

This little Sandwich Spot tucked in DuPont circle has a cute and charming decor.

The service was quick and they have a really cheerful and attentive staff. Something that I always appreciate.

We got their Roast Pork sandwich which has Slow Roasted Porchetta, Pesto, Aged Provolone cheese, and Pork Jus.

The sandwiches are priced at $10 for a half sandwich and $18 for a full sandwich (yes, a little pricey than what you’d find at regular sandwich spots)

The sandwich was quite filling and I can see why people keep coming here. If you are someone like me who keeps dropping all her sandwich fillings, you’d need a couple of napkins as you are eating it.

Parking can be a little difficult since the street parking was completely full. The nearest parking spot we could get was almost 4 blocks away. But the weather was beautiful so I didn’t mind the walk 🙂

The only thing though is their timing – they are only open from 11 am to 4 pm Mon – Sat. We were planning to go there in the evening but I’m glad I checked their timings.

I will be super honest here –  if you aren’t a huge fan of pork/ beef, this place may not be for you. (I mean sure you can try their veggie options, but it’s the pork and beef sandwiches they are famous for after all.)

But if you love your meat, this is worth a try. Next time you are in D.C., you can certainly consider giving this place a visit.

Sounds great! I’ve been to Washington, DC in the past for short one or two day trips but perhaps in the future Stephen and I will go and sample more of the cuisine.

We were there for 2 days as well. I’ll be honest.. I would have never known about this place had I not seen it on TV. It’s a little pricey but worth a try. If you get a chance to try it someday, do let me know ?

A little pricey indeed, especially for a sandwich. But yes, worth trying out at least once 🙂
