Brunch at Jammin’ Crêpes

Brunch at Jammin' Crepes, Princeton NJ

If you want to indulge in some deliciously fresh crêpes that are made using locally grown food, Jammin’ Crêpes is the place for you!

Being avid food lovers, my husband & I enjoy watching food shows on TV. One of our favorite shows is Guy Fieri’s show on Food Network – ‘Diners, drive-ins, and dives’ (or Triple D as it’s called) where he hunts down some of America’s best local restaurants.

It so happens that whenever he visits New York or New Jersey we always get excited! And after almost every episode, we are like – we HAVE to try out this restaurant! But the truth is – our excitement & urge to visit the restaurants they feature on their show had never really turned into anything concrete until last week.

So a few days back the hubby decided to take me out for brunch and asked me where I wanted to go. That’s when I said, “why not go to a restaurant that has been featured on Triple D?!” Now that sounds like a plan! After checking out the list of restaurants the show has covered in NY & NJ, we decided to go to Jammin’ Crêpes which is located in Princeton, New Jersey.

The first thing I noticed when we went inside was the adorably cute decor. With charming interiors and an open kitchen style, the place was bustling with activity. There was a short line ahead of us but it moved pretty quickly.

After scanning the menu options that are displayed upfront, the hubs decided to go for their ‘Hammin Cheesy Melty’ from the savory options and I chose the Nut-Cho-Tella’ from their sweet crêpes. I must point out here that they have gluten free and vegetarian options as well.

Despite the rush hour, we were lucky to be placed at a table almost immediately after placing our order.

The ‘Hammin Cheesy Melty’ crêpe was stuffed with Black Forest Ham, perfectly melted Swiss cheese, house pickled vegetables & a really delicious mustard aioli.

My Nut-Cho-Tella crêpe was filled with their house made creamy chocolate spread made from roasted hazelnuts & almonds.

The chocolate spread tasted a lot like Nutella but had a nuttier consistency. Truly Decadent!

Initially, I thought I’ll only take a bite out of the hub’s savory crêpe but turned out, I liked it more than mine! So much so that, at one point, we even exchanged our plates so I could eat the savory crêpe in peace.

This restaurant is proud to use locally grown food thereby supporting the local farmers and food artisans. They also have a huge display of their house-made pickled vegetables – it had almost all the veggies I could possibly imagine. When we asked them whether it was for sale, the lady told us that they sell it only during Fall.

Note to self: make a trip to Jammin Crêpes in Fall 🙂

They also serve Crêpe Cakes (one of my favorites!) and the Red Velvet Crêpe Cake that was on display was reallllyy tempting! If it weren’t for me already feeling so full, I would have definitely ordered a slice of this scrumptious looking dessert!

I mean, just look at this beauty –

We’re definitely going to visit this place again and try out the other interesting options they have like their ‘Lemon & Lavender crêpe’ and their ‘Everything’s Better with Bacon & Jam’ crêpe.

To sum up – Freshly made food, a warm and smiling staff and a delightful experience = a lovely brunch date!

Go there to have a truly Jammin’ time just like we did!

PS: I’m thinking of starting a series where I’ll try and visit restaurants that have been covered on shows like Triple D on Food Network and share my experience with all of you. Let me know whether you like the idea. I’m really excited for it!
