New York Through my Lens – Part 2

NEW-YORK

New York Through my Lens yet again!

The first part of my post  – ‘New York through my Lens’ received an overwhelming response from so many of you and I’m really thankful for it! As promised, here I am sharing a few lovely photos of this wonderful city yet again!

Empire State Building

It is one of the Highest Open-Air Observatories giving you a breathtaking view of the city. The building is often lit up in different colors and they always have a particular holiday or some other significance behind it. Like on 4th of July, it is lit up with the American Flag colors or during Christmas, it is lit up with green & red colors. Their site has a complete set of information about it.

However, like I had mentioned in my previous post, if you wanna see the beauty of Empire state (and also avoid the crowd), you can consider the option of heading over to the Rockefeller center as you get a direct view of this beauty from ‘The Top of the Rock’

Central Park

With a sprawling area of approximately 843 acres, it is almost impossible to cover the entire park in one single day by foot. Some of the points that I think are great are – the Great lawn, Belvadare castle (near the great lawn) the fountain and the Great Lake. You might also be interested in the Central Park zoo which  is pretty small but perfect for people with kids. A few months back, I had shared a few more photos in another post. Honestly, I can’t stop clicking pics whenever I go there 😀

For people who like to plan their visits ahead of time, their site gives a ton of info in detail. And don’t forget to grab some hot waffles at the ‘Wafels and Dinges’ cart while you are there. Can’t. Stop. Raving. About them!

Bryant Park

Situated close to Times Square in the middle of Central Manhattan is the iconic Bryant Park! Whenever I go there, I just like to grab a cup of coffee and sit for a while giving my legs a break. Their carousels totally give off a carnival type of feeling to me and the tons of board games that are kept in the park will keep you amused for a long time.

Their winter village is magical with a myriad of shops popping up and a free ice skating rink for everyone to enjoy. If you are here in the winter, this is a must-visit!

Statue of liberty

Lady Liberty shines in all her glory on the beautiful Ellis island. Book a trip in advance to go to the Ellis island and get up close to the statue or take the ferry which takes you around the island. If you want to save some money, hop on the Staten Island Ferry (departing from Whitehall Terminal in Lower Manhattan) -it is free. You will get a pretty good view but the only downfall is – it doesn’t take you up-close to the statue.

Walking is the best way to get around. They say if you are in New York city, keep your cars at home or prepare for traffic and sky-high parking charges. I feel your best bet is to rely on public transportation. Plus, when you explore the city, you will be able to find many hidden gems, meet a lot of wonderful, diverse set of people and overall have a very enriching experience!!

This post is so great and I love NY even more, you made me want to go there right now…Stunning city!“I love New York, even though it isn’t mine, the way something has to be, a tree or a street or a house, something, anyway, that belongs to me because I belong to it.”

I’m sure you will love it.. Yes the crowds can be a bit intimidating in the beginning.. But it all grows on to you. Without them, New York won’t be the same ?

I recently posted Bryant Park pic on my Instagram 🙂
