Pumpkin Carving Festival at NYBG

PUMPKIN

Giant pumpkins weighing over 1000 pounds? Did I hear that right? Yup! The New York Botanical Garden hosts a pumpkin carving festival every year.ย Events such as these are like a breath of fresh air.ย

We went there last year and I knew I just HAD to share it here on my blog! Giant pumpkins from all around are brought; some of them are carved and then displayed for visitors.

This one was really creepy and I wonder how they must have carved it-

It is indeed an art to carve these pumpkins and to see them on display is surreal.

They have an ongoing festival in the month of October where newly carved giant pumpkins are displayed along with a few workshops for kids as well. For those who are in and around the city can definitely think of going there – it’s worth a visit. But for those who can’t, you can check out their site and see a few of their pumpkin carvings.

XOXO

These are awesome – I wish the British took Halloween as seriously as you do across the Atlantic ๐Ÿ™‚ I have my pumpkin ready and waiting to be carved. Every year I look at elaborate designs but it still generally turns out as a face with triangular eyes!

Thank you so much for checking out my post today and following me. Do you mind if I ask you a question? I am having a bit of a problem with the blog transition to the new address. When you followed me, how did you do that? It appears that you are following my old blog instead of the new site. This has been happening frequently, and I’m not sure why. To follow the new site, just submit your e-mail there and you will get notified of new posts on the new site. Thanks for your help! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m not into creep things but that last pumpkin is amazing in that it was carved out of a pumpkin. I have friends that live in Connecticut and go into the city all the time. I’ll be sharing your post with them.
