Happy Friday once again everyone!
It is time for favorites of the week 🙂
1. One of the things I’m loving currently is this carrot cake –
I first tasted this lighter than air carrot cake a few months back and I kept going back for more. It’s sold by this family-owned bakery called ‘Old German Bakery’. The owner is really kind and always goes out of his way to explain the details of all his pastries.
2. My next favorite? The ‘Modak’ that I made yesterday for the very first time for the Hindu festival of ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’. For those who don’t know what Modak is – it is a sweet dumpling with fresh grated coconut and jaggery as the filling. The outer cover is typically made from rice flour and then steamed. They have different variations but this is what is usually made at my home.
I have always seen my mum making it and although mine did not turn out perfect when it comes to looks (hey don’t blame a girl for trying) they tasted really good…soft and had the perfect amount of sweetness. Approved by the hubby 😉
3. Last but not the least – time for some green tea.
I’m a coffee as well as well as a tea lover and the ‘Bigelow Green tea with Pomegranate’ is my new obsession. I was a bit apprehensive initially as I’m not a huge fan of pomegranates, but this tea has just a hint of that flavor. The color is a rich maroon and it isn’t too sweet. I fell in love with it at the very first sip.
Wish everyone a happy weekend!! Cheers and keep on smiling!
